In the spirit of love and justice, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of San Mateo County provides person-to-person services of time, talent and resources to help our neighbors in need. SVdP respects the dignity of every person. We provide Safety-Net services for families and individuals in our community who are often suffering, forgotten and deprived — the working poor, the homeless, the incarcerated, and all people living on the margins.

OUR CORE VALUES

We Serve With Compassion

Vincentians witness God's love by embracing all works of charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served because, in them, Vincentians see the face of Christ.

We Show Respect

SVdP respects the dignity of every person. We provide Safety-Net services for families and individuals in our community who are often suffering, forgotten and deprived — the working poor, the homeless, the incarcerated, and all people living on the margins.

We Work With Integrity

As a reflection of the whole family of God, members, known as Vincentians, are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level. We are united in an international society of charity by a spirit of poverty, humility and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings and adherence to a basic Rule.

We are a voice of the poor

With members representing every section and demographic of our County, we identify issues that are critical to people living in poverty and need, and advocate for them in an effort to develop strategies and tactics that will provide the most effective and efficient means to reduce or eliminate poverty.
