You Are Not Alone

“Eduardo” was referred to St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Peninsula Family Resource Center for rent assistance after an illness made it impossible for him to work.

When working as a gardener, Eduardo barely earned enough to keep up with his monthly rent however, after he had a stroke several months ago, he was unable to work at all. He underwent an operation and suffered a second stroke after surgery. Deeply worried about his housing, Eduardo was advised by Redwood City’s Fair Oaks Community Center to contact SVdP for assistance.

Vincentian volunteers visited him in his home, bringing food, grocery store gift cards, and kind words of encouragement as he copes with his health problems. SVdP also stepped in with a check to the landlord to bring his rent out of arrears so he can remain housed during his recuperation. He was so grateful!
